The San Diego Chapter of ITVA had its beginning at the 1977 national convention
in Washington, D.C. In talking with National Membership Chairman Chuck Webb, I discovered that there were three
other unattached members working in San Diego: Jack Armstrong, Ray Mattingly and Ron Butler. Chuck encouraged
me to meet with them to talk about forming a chapter, which I did on my return to San Diego.
In December 1978, our chapter was formed with ten members. By February 1979,
the membership had grown to 25 and interest in the chapter was growing. At that month's meeting, 43 persons
attended to hear Chuck Webb and ITVA National Vice President Jeannie Tasker describe the benefits of membership
in ITVA. They apparently liked what they saw and heard because the chapter continued to grow at a rapid pace.
At the next national convention in Dallas, ten of us accepted the chapter's
charter from Jeannie, along with a $200 check for being the fastest growing chapter in the country.
